There are 27 Local Government Areas in the State as follows:-
Abadam, Askira-Uba, Bama, Bayo, Biu, Chibok, Dikwa, Damboa, Gubio, Guzamala, Gwoza, Hawul, Jere, Kaga, Kala Balge, Konduga, Kukawa, Kwaya Kusar, Mafa, Magumeri, Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Marte, MObbar, Monguno, Ngala, Nganzai and Shani with 311 wards in the State.

Senatorial District
There are 3 Senatorial districts in the State namely, Borno Central Senatorial District – Zone “A”, Borno South Senatorial District – Zone “B” and Borno North Senatorial District – Zone “C”.

Zone “A” is made up of the following Local Government Areas:-
MMC, Ngala, Kala/Balge, Mafa, Konduga, Bama, Jere and DIkwa

Zone “B” is made up of the following Local Government Areas
Askira Uba, Bayo, Biu, Chibok, Damboa, Gwoza, Hawul, Kwaya Kusar and Shani

Zone “C” is made up of the following Local Government Areas
Abadam, Gubio, Guzamala, Kaga, Kukawa, Magumeri, MArte, Mobbar, Monguno and Nganzai.

Emirate Councils
There are 7 Emirate Councils in the State as follows:-
1. Borno Emirate
2. Dikwa Emirate
3. Biu Emirate
4. Askira Emirate
5. Gwoza Emirate
6. Shani Emirate
7. Ubar Emirate
